I am the Frog

Aug 19, 2008 10:00AM - 3 comments

An engineer was crossing a road one day when a frog called out to him and said, "If you kiss me, I'll turn into a beautiful princess."
He bent over, picked up the frog and put it in his pocket.
The frog spoke up again and said, "If you kiss me I'll turn back into a beautiful princess and stay with you for one week."
The engineer took the frog out of his pocket, smiled at it and returned it to the pocket.
The frog then cried out, "If you kiss me and turn me back into a princess, I'll stay with you for one week and do ANYTHING you want."
Again, the engineer took the frog out, smiled at it and put it back into his pocket.
Finally, the frog asked, "What is the matter? I've told you I'm a beautiful princess and that I'll stay with you for one week and do anything you want. Why won't you kiss me?"
The engineer said, "Look, I'm an engineer. I don't have time for a girlfriend, but a talking frog, now that's great."

I can SO relate to the frog!!!
My boyfriend is in his junior year as an electrical engineering major. I'm very supportive of him finishing school and willing to work around his schedule to spend time with him, but it doesn't happen very much. I'll probably get to see him once or twice a month from now until December. Sometimes I get a little discouraged and disappointed, but I wouldn't want to give him up for the world.

So for now, I'll just be content to be the frog in his pocket.

One more year until he graduates. Just one more year...then maybe, hopefully, things will start looking up and I won't be the frog anymore.

It will fly by and engineering classes are hard and come with labs which most science based classes do. As someone with a Bio degree I can relate. You have to put so much more timeinto classes than a communications major or accounting major. He'll come back to you. It's just a LOT! I'm sure he appreciates you more than you think. And you'll have him to yourself in a year, no sharing him with school!

I know I certainly don't envy his classes and labs! He spends SO much time involved in that stuff, then just goes home and works on it some more with homework.
I don't know where he finds the time to eat and sleep, let alone find the time to spend with me! He's taking 17 course credits this semester, and they're all sciences, math, and digital logic classes.

*shudder*

I don't know how he does it! But I admire him for doing so well in it. Which is why I am so supportive of him finishing and willing to work around his schedule, no matter what that takes. I told him one time that I am anticipating his graduation as much as he is because I know how hard he's working for it, and the time we're both sacrificing with each other for him to get to that point.
