An interesting new study has just been completed that suggests careful realignment of the upper neck has been associated with reducing blood pressure.
A video new report can be seen here: http://abclocal.go.com/wls/story?section=news/health&id=6033564
While it’s important to note that this procedure is not advertised as a “cure” for hypertension, it’s fascinating to observe that a simple, almost underwhelming spinal adjustment could have such an impact on your health. Naturally, larger studies involving more patients are necessary to establish a better understanding of the mechanism behind this improvement. But this early evidence is promising, so I encourage you to keep an eye out for the results of future studies. As I personally become aware of these findings, I will keep you updated.
Chiropractors have long reasoned that spinal problems correlate with health problems. While lower blood pressure can result from these unique spinal adjustments, a host of other conditions related to the nervous system could respond favorably as well. As a practicing Upper Cervical Chiropractor, I’ve witnessed tremendous health changes in the patients seen in my own office.
Among these changes are sleep disorders, which can often be related to nervous system malfunction. Approximately half of our patients report much improved sleep quality after their first spinal correction.
Could there be a relationship between hypertension, insomnia, and other health problems? There appears to be a strong possibility, and the Chicago Hypertension Clinic study mentioned above supports this idea.
Share this article with your doctor if you’re suffering from insomnia or high blood pressure in case they’re unaware of George Bakris, M.D.'s study. A wonderful learning resource exists for additional patient education at www.UpCspine.com.
I look forward to your thoughts and opinions.
Warm wishes,
AT
