HSV-1( which is oral herpes) can be spread from the mouth to the genitals. If you gave him oral sex there is a strong possibility that you could have given it to him. But that is not to be conclusive. The next time you get what you think may be a cold sore, get down to the doc's office and have them take a swab for a culture. Don't be scared if it is HSV-1 considering that over half the population has that anyway( between 60 - 70 % usually acquired in childhood), and a good portion of those who don't know they have hsv-1 never have symptoms. It's amazing that they dont tell ya about oral herpes in sex ed. Just emphasis is placed on HSV-2 which actually IS genital herpes but the actuall herpes virus can occur on your mouth or your privates. HSV-1 tends to be less frequent than HSV-2 though. Hope this helps:)
Your cold sores are oral herpes - usually they are hsv1.
