Seriously darlin .. what makes you think you are the only one? Honestly, we are more interested in the cure and we don't talk much about the how unless it's relevant to the discussion at hand.
No...you are not the only one. By a longshot.
Take care and all the best to you.
Trish
You are most definately not the only one here to get it from recreational drug use. But for the most part here we focus on how to get rid of it.
I don't know where you are in the journey, but I wish you the best in beating this!

Mitch: If I did get mine from IVDU, I didn't inhale and I didn't enjoy it! :-)
So, was it the IVDU? The gamma globulin used by the military for VN era service? Sloppy dental/medical work? I do not really know. But I will always have to consider that it is likely that it was the IVDU. It is a difficult thing to confront because it is so alien to who I think I am.
I imagine that I feel much like you must. Facing your kids must be the toughest part. Mine are all grown, and they know that I was reckless as a youth. They always complained that my experience was why they couldn't get away with much. I have never discussed specifics with them, and they have not asked, which leads me to believe they probably suspect that there was IVDU in my past. I feel bad, because who wants tell their children that their father was a drug user? Our kids want to think their parents are infallible, but an important part of growing into adulthood is realizing that this is not true.
Well, here we are, and it really doesn't matter how we got here. I think we all want to get on with life the best we can. Many here give of themselves to help us all. I hope you can get your head and feelings around the issue and deal with it the best you can.
As an ex-addict, it seems you have done pretty well. You have my admiration and should cut yourself some slack!
P.S. You can probably see why asking your question can hit some sensitive areas with people.
Strange thing - I never did drugs - not even recreationally... But I have the type of HCV that is most connected to drug use... LOL!
Anyhow - I love everyone here - no matter how they got HCV --- cause we all have this dragon to slay... And it makes us a family.
A strange one --- LOL! - But one never-the-less.
Much hugs to all!
Meki
Love you,
Liz
LOL! 2nd hand Riba exposure :) It's tough isn't it!
Hi Liz, hope your doing well. That was a sweet post to Mr. Liz :)....Mitch.
Mitch....nope, your not alone at all. I'm about the same as Walrus, never battled addiction, did try everything in my teens BUT......I also got my nails done 100's of time at sweat shop nail saloons, cut often. Been stabbed by plenty of horse needles, some off of the grounds, dental work in clinics years ago and who really knows how/when I got this? The only thing that bothers me in that..... this disease fights stigma as the IVDU disease, making people think only 'druggies' get it and when myself, Brent others get dx'd if you ever used IVDU even one time, it's 'labeled' as just that, not even being sure, therefore adding to statistics of IVDU infection and taking away from the facts that need to be out there like any woman that got cut after me in those nail salons could have gotten HCV from me, etc. No one here cares where you got it, I applaud anyone beating, fighting addiction. The world 'out there' needs more awakening in that it isn't just a drug user disease. Just as any gay man never 'deserves' AIDS, no drug user ever 'deserves' this disease and sadly, much of society thinks that way. I'm quite sure no one is without their own mistakes in life, whether it be drugs, bad choices of any kind. Here, we’re all in this together. No guilt, no judgment, no holier than thou.
Good luck in all ahead and in staying drug free, that alone is one huge battle, LL
Meki.....you calling me strange? :)
