leg pain s/p back surgery

my wife recently had back surgery to fuse a section of her spine she has been experiencing severe pain in her calf awaking her from sleep. this pain goes away after being on her feet and moving for an hour or so.is this very unusual? it does not seem to present as usual symptoms for dvt in that it occurs while at rest(sleeping) Thank You
