im concerned about all the meds ive been put on at 14w

To start things out a few weeks ago i called my doc office because i thought i had a UTI but didnt have an appt for a few weeks.  They had me go to the lab and give a urine sample but it came back inconclusive.  So when I went in for my reg appt last week i give her my urine sample and she says "oh my, theres blood in your urine" I was so mad because i told them before that something was wrong but they blew it off.  So they run some tests and say there inconclusive again but there going to treat me for a UTI anyways.  After she reassured me a thousand times that it was safe for the baby i agree to take the antibiotics for 7 days.  I just finished my antibiotics today and they call me and say my pap came back and I have a vag infection and there calling me in a scirpt.  At this point I am not comfortable with how much medication they have me taking, im only 14w is it ok for the baby for me to be taking things end on end like this? And to make matters worse I still dont feel better from the UTI but im afaird to tell them because i dont want to take anymore med im worried about what the risks are for the baby.

What antibiotics did you take?

from what i understand, almost all anti-bitoics are pregnancy safe.  as long as you told the doctor you are pregnant, they would not give you a harmful med.

utis are very common in pregnancy from week 4 onwards, so dont worry, and usually if they are not treared immedialty will lead to vag infections.. again very common... I would say don't worry as long as you are getting treated baby will be fine...

I agree with the other posters.  I have taken antibiotics and medicines for vaginal infections during all different times of pregnancy.  Both are very common.  All of my kids have been healthy.  Your baby should be fine :)

I understand your concerns and I'm sorry you're having to deal w/this. I was incredibly sick my first trimester (and half my second) with hyperemesis gravidarum. I was hospitalized several times and because I was rapidly losing weight and unable to eat or drink anything for weeks on end, I had to take drugs to keep me from vomiting. Because I was so ill & bedridden, I also developed a UTI for the first time in my life, and was taking anti-biotics for that on top of the other drugs. I was a WRECK!! I was devestated that I had to take so many things (especially since I mc'd a few months prior with our first baby), even though all the doctors and nurses assured me that the benefits far outweighed the possible risks. The good news is that I am now nearly 30 weeks and our baby boy is very healthy and active and doing great. Your body is designed to keep out the "bad stuff" from your baby, or at least most of it. Nature has an incredible way of providing the baby everything it needs. It is critical that you take care of your UTI because left untreated it can lead to serious kidney problems. UTI's are incredibly common in pregnant women and easily treatable with the right anti-biotics (but you must take them exactly as prescribed!). Your doctor would not prescribe a medication that is not reasonably safe, and keep in mind that more often than not the benefits far outweigh the risks. Just relax and do what you need to do to take care of your health so that you can be in the best possible condition for your growing baby. ALWAYS be completely up front about your condition with your doctor, even if you fear they will put you on more meds, etc. They know what's best, and you don't want things to become worse before they get better. Best wishes to you, and hang in there - it WILL get better!!

Some antibiotics can be bad for a fetus...including but not limited to doxycyclene...that is the only one I specifically know that you should not take...it causes the baby, as a child and adult to not form teeth properly...they are misformed and discolored...I'm sure that your doctor is aware of this and wouldn't prescribe you meds that were bad for baby...you can go to the american pregnancy association website and they have some sort of database by the fda for meds and pregnancy and their safeness.  Good luck!
