Could it be herpes?

To doctor,

Hi, I'm a 25 year old male.  The Friday before last, I had protected sex with a girl that I don't know.  I didn't notice any lesions/warts on her.  I remember that I had to urinate but I held it until I ejaculated.  After sex, I immediately felt a tingling sensation around my pube hair area.  I thought it might be the Lifestyle condom we use since I normally used Trojan.  On the following afternoon, I played sports for about 2 1/2 hours straight with 15-20 minute breaks here and there.  On that Sunday till currently, I feel a dull ache on my left testicle.  It doesn't hurt but it's an annoying feeling.  I don't have any rashes, bumps, or lesions and about that tingling sensation, it went away.  I'm starting to feel the dull ache on my left inner thigh as well.  I'm confused right now, because I'm not sure if it's the sex I had or maybe I strained a muscle while playing sports, which I don't think I did.  The dull ache seems to go away when I stand up and walk around.  I sit on the computer almost all day and sometimes I feel a tingling sensation on my left leg.  I'm dead worried that it's herpes or an std.  I'm hoping any doctor can shed some light here and ease my worries.  If it's not std, what could it be?  Any medication recommended?  Let me know if any additional information is needed.  Thanks for your help.

I'm betting this is not an STD.  Your exposure was protected and condoms do work.  Furthermore, I can promise you that the tingling sensation you experienced was not the result of ANY STD.  There are no STDs in which the onset of symptoms occurs immediately or even within 12 hours of sex.  As for the soreness in your testicle and later your leg is likewise unlikely to be an STD, again not only would it be unusual for an STD to become symptomatic this quickly but the testicular symptoms you describe are not consistent with most STDs and the ache in your thigh is likewise unlikely.

Suggestions.
1.  If you are concerned, you might go get checked at an STD Clinic or by your doctor.  If you do this, realize that the reason for going is to relieve your anxiety over all of this, not for any medical indication.
2.  Otherwise, for your symptoms, I'd suggest naprosyn, indomethicin or some other anti-inflammatory pain medication and time.

Hope this helps.  EWH

Dull ache in the left testicle but not necessarily swollen, from your experience, does not indicate a herpes II infection or any type of STD?  This happened 2 days after from possible contamination, not within 12 hours.  Sorry to ask again, but I need to be mentally prepared.
