Are these moles or something worse?

by Chi82, Jul 08, 2008 01:35PM
Hello, I have a problem that is absolutely freaking me out.

I have small mole-like growths on my penis.  It started to show up in the past couple of years.  I had one or two maybe 10 years ago, but they disappeared... and now some more came back with a vengeance!  Most of these have popped up in the last 7 or 8 months.

I have a few tiny moles on my face and body, I can't say they are similar.  You don't even notice those.  The ones on my penis are much bigger.

Please take a look at the attached pics.  Let me know what you think.

Are these moles?  Warts?  What could have caused them?  How much does it usually cost to get rid of them?

Thanks in advance.

No, I mean, seriously.  THANKS!

Pic number 5 is of the flat moles that have always been on my scrotum just to give you a frame of reference for my medical history.

Sorry, but Dr. Hook and I do not look at posted photos.  We are not dermatologists; and in addition, in our view it comes too close to practicing medicine from a distance.  We avoid making any diagnosis.

Most mole-like growths are just that, moles, or some other sort of freckle-like spots (i.e., not necessarily abnormal).  I suppose it is possible you have genital warts, but warts usually are not pigmented -- i.e., generally flesh colored.  Nothing serious behaves the way you describe.  For example, I doubt penile cancer.

Rather than dicking around on line (pun intended), I suggest you just go to a health care provider for proper assessment.  You might try posting your question on the MedHelp dermatology forum, where Dr. Rockoff is willing to look at clinical photos.  But even if you get a probable diagnosis, you're going to need to see a provider for definitive diagnosis and treatment advice.  Might as well skip the middle man and save the additional posting fee.

Thanks Dr. Hands.  (Heh, I'm sure you get that a lot).

I paid for this question, so does it get transferred to the appropriate forum or do I have to pay again?  If so that would suck a bit.

As far as I know, you would have to pay again, but the forum moderators have nothing to do with fees etc.  You could use the contact link to ask the administrators.
