Has anyone heard of any connections between endometriosis and peritoneal(ovarian cancer) developing?

Hi,
I developed ovarian clear cell carcinoma from endometriosis that turned malignant , I would imagine that it could also develop in the peritoneal cavity . My oncologist told me that the transformation from endo into ovarian cancer is rare though . What makes you ask this question? many endo symptoms are very similar to ovarian cancer .

Hope this helps  Angie

What tests did your ONC do to determine your clear cell carcinoma was caused by endometriosis? That is very interesting.  I had two surgeries for endometriosis in my 30's and 40's. I too, have clear cell carcinoma. I wonder............

My clear cell was found in the pathology lab when I had a hysterectomy for complex cysts, fibroids and endometriosis . My oncologist said it was the endo that had under gone transformation into ovarian cancer . Clear cell and endometrioid are the two ovarian cancers that are thought to be linked to endo because they are usually found along side it.

I had a history of endometriosis for about 10 years.  Mine is not confirmed, but my oncologist thinks my endometrioid cancer was caused from my severe endometriosis.  The other strange thing about endo is that it only grew on my ovaries.  I never had it anywhere else.  Mine was found when I had an ovary removed because of the endometriosis.

My oncologist did say if it is from endometriosis the prognosis is better.  I don't know why that is.
