how long should I be taking Acidophilus & Digestive Enzymes

by Dusty2607, Jun 30, 2008 03:51PM
I had been diagnosed and treated for H. Pylori, I going into my fourth week and have finished by antibiotics for treatment of which was for a week, then started taking acidophilus capsules and digestive enzymes after finishing antibiotics, can anyone tell me how long I should continue taking these two.

I'm also continuing with 20 mg of Omeprazole as directed by doctor.  Also how long should I abstain from alcohol consumption, I had a couple of beers on the weekend, first since June 3rd, seemed to give me diarrea though.

I'm not sure why are you taking digestive enzymes. Probiotics are recommeneded for about 1 month. Abstain from alco during this time.

I had the gastrocopy procedure done this morning.  I was informed that some brushing was done as there was evidence of healing ulcer's and that I still had some inflamation still evident and was advised to continue with my omeprazole and not to over stuff my self so that the inflamation can heal entirely.  I started taking probiotics last Wednesday and will continue.  I have a question with the brushing, why is this done?  My doctor also indicated I had slight reflex so to stay away from spicy foods.

I have been feeling fine, however, on occassion my bowel has come out a dark green colour, noticed on two occassions in last two weeks, also notice that my bowel movement is sometimes twice a day, seem to be more regular.  I realize that I've got to stay away from alcohol as well till completely healed.

What you mean with brushing?

Beside spicy foods, you should avoid any acidic food (fruits, vinegar..) also aspirins, vit C, drugs like ibuprofen...It may help, if you decrease amount of protein food (meat, eggs).

Drak green color is from iron pills or some artificially colored food, also from lot of green vegetables. Green stool/diarrhea is also in giardia infection, in salmonella (this would go with obvious diarrhea) and with Clostridium difficile. You may want to have stool test for parasites and C-diff.
