Bottle Feeding - Off his milk

by Snapsos, Jun 25, 2008 04:23AM
Our son has been drinking approximately 700ml to 750ml a day since he was 4 weeks' old.  He is now 8 weeks' old and his intake has dropped slowly but surely over the last 2 weeks and he is now down to 500ml a day (yesterday).
Apart from a lack of appetite, he is a happy, smiley baby, who sleeps well (although over the past few days he is sleeping more during the day - about 6 hours).  Please note he is fed purely on formula milk.

Although it is summer, the temperature in London is not excessive, so I'm not sure this has any bearing, especially as we have had hotter weeks and his milk intake was in the 700s then.

Is this normal or should we take him to see a doctor?

His weight and height looks normal for his age. Have you introduced any cereal to his feedings or he is only drinking formula? Is he teething? These can cause his formula intake to decrease. If that is not the case, then have him checked by his MD.
