Hello,

First, you should discuss this with your ob/gyn.  If you don't have one yet you need to do so as soon as possible.  If you have never been vaccinated or had chicken pox as a child your doctors can consider administering a medication called Acyclovir, to minimize the course of the infection.  There are other therapies to consider (if available where you live), but they are time sensitive.

Lastly, there is a small chance your growing baby could be affected.  You should talk to your ob/gyn about the role of routine screening over the course of the pregnancy, and the possibility of performing other invasive procedures to help determine if the baby has been affected.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
