ANA test

by haley1206, Jun 10, 2008 02:55PM
I have had 2 weak unable to titer ANA screens.  Can you please tell me what this means and will it affect my baby.  I am 16 weeks pregnant.

Hello,

Why are you having an ANA drawn?  Yes the ANA (anti-nuclear antibodies) is a screen for lupus, but also can be elevated in other autoimmune disorders.   Based on your statement it seems the results were negative, which is good.  I suggest you talk with your doctor who knows your situation more intimately.

Best regards,

Dr. Downing
