Please Help...Large Cyst & Surgery During Pregnancy

by dazguti, May 21, 2008 07:43PM
I am 38 years old and 14.5 weeks preganant with my 4th child. At around 7 weeks the doctor discovered a large ovarian cyst during an ultrasound. The cyst has been monitored and has grown significantly and we have scheduled surgery to remove it for two weeks from now.  The doctor says the cyst appears to be septated and blood-filled.  It is currently about 10cm.  Please Please tell me what the chances are that it could be malignant.  I'm so worried. Thank You.

Hi There
it has a less than 1 percent chance of being malignant. It is reasonable to remove it as it can twist and cause pain and problems in pregnancy,
Please let us know how everything goes
take care
