Ovulation and Cycles

by Atia_Julii, May 13, 2008 03:50PM
I am trying to conceive, and currently, my cycles range from 36-37 days.  However, everything I read on the internet says that a "normal" cycle ranges from 28-35 days.  I've also heard experts say that any cycle about 35 days, ovulation probably isn't occurring.  I have tracked ovulation with OPK's, and have not detected ovulation, although I do get the egg white cervical mucus about 14 days before my next mense begins.

My question is, is being above a 35 day cycle make my cycle irregular, and although I haven't been trying to conceive for a year, would it be wise to go to my doctor?

Thank you.

I would call your doctor, he/she can do some blood work usually aorund day 21 of your cycle to make sure you are ovulating and if all else fails, clomid really balances a cycle out and makes ovulation stronger.........

im pregnant now at 6 weeks after 3 m/c.  I found my ovulation date using an over the counter kit, however did do the 21 day check back in the beginning of the year.

Have you tried taking bbt temp , that way you can surly know when you are ovulating. you have to observe at leat 3-4 cycles , to really know your temp. pattern. And also try opk.

I'm very irregular and tend to have a long cycle as you explained happens to yourself. I had to finally seek medical treatment because I was unable to conceive. I would suggest talking to a doctor and getting checked out. They will do a blood test to see what your hormone levels are currently at and help you detect when ovulation is going to occur. Have you ever tried those ovulation kits? Or you can also take your temperature every morning at the same time and before you do anything else (including urinate) and chart it for a month or two. You should start seeing a pattern. I believe when your temps are higher than those are the days you are ovulating. I had to read this thick book that taught women how to check for these things and be in tune with their body so that you might not even need to seek medical treatment and can predict ovulation on your own. It also tells you to keep track of certain types of mucous and that sort of thing that might help.
