IVF and factor V leiden-HELP PLEASE URGENT

by scaredphysio, May 09, 2008 07:58PM
Please can u help me?
I need to know if my sis ( who is undergoing her last round of IVF) needs to have genetic screening for thrombophilia, factor V leiden?
I have been just been diagnosed with heterozygosity factor V leiden genotype, have a low APCrV ratio, and positve ANA of more than titre 1/100 plus homogeneous pattern.  My factor V111 C, antithombin activity, protein C activity and protein S free latex antigen are normal.  I do not have prothrombin G 20210 A variant.  MTHFR is pending.  Lupus anticoagulant, cardiolipin antibodies and beta 2 antibodies are negative.  B12, folate and homocystine levels within normal limits.
They are screening me for stroke or MS and trying to rule out others mimics.

My sis is due very soon for her next and final IVF in Cyprus where she lives, after having years of infertility and im so worried that she needs screening before her IVF.  No history of DVT..grandfather has raynards...no other blood disorders...i had one normal pregancy but one miscarriage.

my question is WHAT DO I ADVISE HER...I need to act quickly.
Her first IVF...with healthy looking embryo's...didnt 'take'...or she lost them early on?

i understand that she might be able to take some medications to prevent miscarraige...but have no idea what to advise.

ANy help much appreciated...as time is of the essence.
Thanku...Evie
