New Guidelines for HIV Community - Please Read Before Posting

by Med Help, Mar 10, 2008 10:52PM
Effective immediately, there will be a new set of guidelines, specific to the HIV Prevention community. The guidelines will allow this community to be more effective and help more of our members  find answers to their HIV questions.

* This HIV Community is a place to discuss HIV Prevention based upon the criteria established by MedHelp’s doctors.

* Anyone who continues to post excessively, questioning a conclusive negative result or no-risk situation, will be subject to action by MedHelp. Conclusive negative results or a no-risk situation will be based up the criteria MedHelp’s doctors. Action will be taken as follows:
    * After excessive posting, a warning will be issued by MedHelp
    * Continuing to post regarding the negative result / no risk situation will result in a 3 day suspension
    * Continuing to post upon your return will result in a permanent ban.

* Any member who creates a second nickname will immediately be banned and have any subsequent nicknames banned.

* Please be courteous to other posters. We recognize this is a high anxiety concern, so please treat all members with respect as they try to understand their possible risk

* If you have a problem with another poster, including messages received via the private message (PM) function, please use the Report button and select Abuse.

Thank you for your co-operation.

We're actually working on building a Health Page that will have these guidelines laid out. We wanted to get this out first though. For now, it's just based on the replies they have given in the past. We're hoping to have the FAQ up very shortly.

If this forum is here to help others coup with mistakes they have made...then why threaten to censor that?  Afterall, it is those persons that are paying to have their case heard by an MD.  There are a lot of people that don't have insurance that are only seeking the reassurance from a MD.  Those people come here...and to threaten to black label them is preposterous!

I thought it was in the interest of medicine to help others...not make them second guess coming to a facility where help could be obtained.  I for one and very disappointed in this new stance.

And to samioso...I have never seen anyone being rude...only people who are scared and seeking medical comfort...

Hi,

We are not threatening to black label anyone. We simply ask that you follow the guidelines attached. It helps no one in the community to have a member repost the same question repeatedly only to get the same answer over and over.

If u were to have hiv. Would a CBC test show anything to grab the attention of the lab tech. Would the lab tech alert the doctor to run more test?
