i am 50 year old.in june 2006 my lipd profile showed high ldl cholestrol - ideal level is below 200 - but mine is 240 to 250 ( i do not remember exactly but less then 250). i go for morning walk for 30 min at least 4 times n a week. ihave for the past 4 months strictly avoided oily foods. recently started taking oats also in my breakfast.
Still for the past 3 days, i am feeling heaviness in my left side of chest. i am not getting proper sleep. i feel that my heart is beating fast. heart beats are so, that it wakes me up from sleep. i feel heart beats faster and audible to me when i am in lying position in nights. during daytime i do not feel so. With keeping raised height (keeping 2/3 pillows) and by taking 0.25 mag of TRIKA (sleeping tab) i am managing.

in jun 07, TMT was done and the reort did not show any negative factors. i could complete tmt for 4 speed levels over 10 to 12 minutes.

pl help me a) whether should i worry - am i in for some serious heart problem/s?
b)what type of test should i subject myself to clear off any doubts?

last week i did lipid profile wherein the
LDL cholestrol is 149 mg/dl
HDL cholestrol is  37 mg/dl
totl lipids            577
serum cholestrol 218
serum Tg            159
ldl/hdl ratio          4.03

The doctor whom i visited for consultation  has prescribed ATORLIP 20 mg.
I am staying away from my hometown  and i don't have my family physician in this place.

Is it ok to start this medicine? Or does it have side effects?

Pl help
